3rd/4th Grade Jr. Lady Dillos wrap up 2011 Season with Goldthwaite Basketball Tounament Championship
Thursday, March 31, 2011 • Posted March 31, 2011

The San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (10-4) wrapped up the 2011 basketball season by rolling through the 6 team field of the 3rd/4th grade girls division of the Goldthwaite Basketball Tournament held March 24-26. It was standing room only as the Lady Dillos played in front of a packed middle school gym in the semi-final round of the tournament on friday night, as they faced the Hamilton Lady Bulldogs in a much highly anticipated rematch from a week ago in which the two teams battled in the San Saba Tournament Championship game. The Lady Dillos quickly put all the hype to rest as they opened up a 14-2 halftime lead and never looked back on their way to the tournament championship game and defeating the tournament host, Goldthwaite Lady Eagles. Offensively the Lady Dillos were lead by Brenna Chambers (5.9 ppg, 16 pts. against Brady) and Linzey Maxcey (6.0 ppg, 13 pts. against Brookesmith). Ashlynn Cash dominated in the rebound department, unofficially averaged 8 rebounds per game against opponents much taller than her. Defensively, Hannah Osbourn, Maxcey, Cash and Chambers lead the way. Casey Mathis was the most versatile player on the team as she played all three positions, Olivia Short scored several big baskets in the final minute of several games to help the Lady Dillos to victory while first year players Abigail Meador and Jillian Whitman contributed valuable minutes off the bench and at the same time picked up quality playing time experience.

The Junior Lady Dillos would like to thank Leigh Ann Glaze, Tony Taylor and San Saba ISD for their continued support of San Saba Youth Basketball.
