GED Testing to be given in Gatesville
Thursday, March 31, 2011 • Posted March 31, 2011

The GED test will be given at Gatesville High School, April 12 and 13 in room number 22.

You must register to take the test Wednesday, April 6, in room 22 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. You need to bring your Texas Drivers License or State or Federal Photo ID, Social Security card, and $65.00. Registration will take 30 minutes to an hour.

If you are 17, you will need to bring a parent or guardian with you to register and also have withdrawal papers from the last school attended.

If you failed the test between 2002 and 2010 and need to retake one or more parts, each part will cost $10.00 for the retest and it must have been six months since you took the test or have a letter from the instructor saying that you are ready to take the test.

You will need to bring a copy of the previous test scores if you have tested before. If you are under 18, there are other qualifications also.

You will also need to bring your ID to take the test. Testing will begin at 5:15 p.m. on both April 12 and 13. You must attend both nights to complete the test.

It usually takes 4 hours each night for testing. If you are a new tester, there is one part of registration that needs to be done on-line at www.utk16.org/scoring (phone help line is 512-475-9400, if needed). This is the first step toward testing. On the home page, you will find a large link entitled "GED TESTERS: click here for the GED Demographic Form" in bold red text. Once you click this link, you will find the clear, step by step instructions. If you are planning to take the test at Gatesville, be sure to use 0750 for the center number. The rest of registration and paying to take the test must be done at Gatesville High School.

Again, ID is required all three nights.

Please share this information with anyone who you think might be interested in taking the test. If there are other questions, please call Barbara Huntley at 512-865-8281 or 856-2460.
