The Bend news is even scarcer than the rain that we have received, and that people are next to none. They say "no news is good news, " but that doesn’t apply to getting news for the paper. People will come up and "say I had some news, but just didn’t think to call it in." Just let one issue come out without the Bend News and they all want to know what happened. At least they do remember to read it, so that is something.

Woke up Sunday with some rather cool temperature and again on Monday it was in the 40’s. This month has been something else, but no rain. By the time you read this the month will be gone and maybe, just maybe it will have rained by the time you read this. We can always hope so.

It was reported that Lampasas had a light mist early Sunday, but no amount to be measured in the rain gauge.

The pecan trees and the China Berry trees have not put on any leaves yet, but the fruit trees have leafed out. The mesquites are really putting on their leaves and some of the other kinds of trees are beginning to show lots of leaves. Just hope the late Easter freeze doesn’t affect the fruit this year. The lack of wildflowers is really noticeable. A few bluebonnets were noticed along hwy. 190 out east of San Saba, but they were small and not many of them. One or two paint brushes were noticed, but nothing to brag about.

William Clark is wearing a strange looking contraption on his right arm and seems to be doing okay. He feels that his arm may mend its self without having to have surgery. At least he is able to be up and around doing his usual business.

Charlene Brister reported that their fishing camp has been very busy even though Spring Break is long past. From the amount of people seen leaving the Bend area Sunday in all sorts of camping vehicles all the camps must have had lots of people.

Jim and OraBeth Hicks had a house full Sunday, as members of their family were out to enjoy Sunday lunch.

Happy birthday goes out to Joshua Scroggins who will celebrate his birthday April 2, to Kyle Keen and R. J. Henniger who has a birthday April 4 and to Carriewayne Keeney whose birthday is April 7.

Congratulation goes out to Jackie and Charlene Brister who will be celebrating their anniversary April 6 and to Bob and Tammy Fullerton who will be celebrating their anniversary April 7.
