Grand Champion
Thursday, March 31, 2011 • Posted March 31, 2011

Recently I noticed in a local newspaper where a sixth grader won a grand champion ribbon at one of the biggest junior livestock shows in the country. It reminded me of my younger years when I spent a lot of time judging and getting animals ready for show. One thing about show animals they are special and have to be of quality and have good characteristics. Once selected, they are set apart and fed special rations, and cared for in very special ways. They are also expected to behave. A whole lot is expected from show animals. Thinking about show animals reminds me of something in the Bible. We are chosen or set apart by God and He has a special plan and purpose for each our lives but we must be willing to yield or submit to Him, (2 Timothy 1:9, James 4:6&7). Just as show animals do not run with animals in the pasture we are to separate or live differently than people who do not love God or will not obey him. God expects it from us, (1 Thessalonians 2:10-12 , 1Thessalonians 3:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8). I can assure you it is a very special moment when the livestock judge comes over to your animal and hands you or puts on the halter of your animal that special ribbon that says, (Grand Champion). Every Christian has that opportunity in God’s show ring. See you in Church next Sunday.
