Thursday, March 31, 2011 • Posted March 31, 2011

Sunday night, three men were arrested and charged with Theft of Material, fifty percent Aluminum, Brass or Copper less than $20,000.

The three men were caught in the act of stealing property belonging to TAA that contained copper and transporting it off the property.

Sheriff Brown stated that Sergeant Wilkerson of the San Saba Sheriff's Office received a call of suspicious activity and responded to the area. Wilkerson discovered what was happening and then called San Saba City Police Officer Joe Dominguez for assistance.

The two officers then set up on and caught the men in the act of stealing the property. One individual got away, but after a short search, he was located and arrested as well. The suspect's vehicle was impounded by the Sheriff's Office subject to being seized since it was used in the commission of a felony.

Eighteen year old Thomas Shoch, 22 year old Robert Peterson and 26 year old Michael Turner, all of Leander, Texas were arrested for the felony offense and their bonds were set at $2,500 each.

Sheriff Brown stated that this was a good example of citizens calling in things that don't look right, and law enforcement responding and following up on the information.

Brown also stated that there is a lot of this type of crime right now all across Texas and that with the seizing of the vehicle we hope that this sends a clear message about the cost of being caught in San Saba County.

All three suspects remain in the San Saba County jail and are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
