Lady Dillo Basketball Report
Thursday, March 24, 2011 • Posted March 24, 2011

I’m going to combine a few more tidbits of basketball along with our first track meet from Holland with this Lady Dillo report. First of all a big congrats to Danessa Vasquez on her selection to the MayPearl Roundup All Star game. Coach Pannell and I ventured over to Maypearl and watched Danessa play. First of all the shootout was a neat environment and the Chamber of Commerce for Maypearl needs to be commended. Danessa scored four points on a three pointer and a freethrow and played some great defense which is normally neglected during All Star games. She did a great job representing our school and community. I’m sure it was a long day for her as she and her family headed out early on Saturday morning around 4 a.m. Also, a few more neat awards to our ladies. Haylee Oliver and Danessa Vasquez were also selected to the TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) All Region Team for Region 1. This is a great honor because there are some really good teams and players in Region 1 from year to year.

Off the hardwood and onto the track is the battlecry for now. We took a few ladies over to Holland for our first track meet. We have a few girls who had been working out plus we added a few basketballers who helped us out to create some relays. I was proud of how our girls competed with not much practice time. That’s one thing that is always there with our Lady Dillos. Regardless of what sport, they are going to give all they have and will fight tooth and nail to the end. Win, lose or draw, each team or individual we face knows that they are going to get our best shot. Also, our next meet will be on Thursday in Harper. The field events at Harper will start at 3:35 and the Running Finals will approximately start at 6:35 Results are as follows:

Haylee Oliver- HJ- 2nd

Haylee Oliver- PV- 2nd
