San Saba Tennis Report

I was out of town last week so I didn’t get a report in on the state team tournament, but Mr. Bohensky did write an article on the state tournament and I want to thank him for that article. The tennis team came in 6

I would like to give a big thanks to Mrs. Glaze and Mr. Bohensky for their many hours the night before the tournament and the day of the tournament in finding us a hotel to stay in. There was a mixed up on the hotel situation and we didn’t have a place to stay but because or these two people making many calls and traveling to different motels we finally were able to find some other rooms. I also like to thank Sam and Jan Crosby, Richard Dawson and Rachael Dawson for their help in taking our team out to eat while I was in a meeting and for getting the kids lunch between matches. Also I want to thank all the parents and supporters who came out to watch our kids perform.

During spring break our team played in the Llano Tournament on Thursday and Friday. In Division I girls singles Lauren Dawson came in 3

The tennis team will next play in the Fredericksburg Tournament on March 24 – 26.

th place in the tournament which was a great accomplishment for this group of players. They defeated Industrial 15 to 5 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals we faced Krum which we had lost to last year by a score of 11 to 8. We knew this match would come down to the final few matches and we came up short again 11 to 8. In the next round we rebounded and defeated Sabinal 18 to 1. In the 5th -6th place match we lost to a good White Oak team 10 to 3. The teams that played in the state tournament were Mason, Grand Saline, White Oak, Wink, Ingram, Crane, East Bernard, Brock, Reagan County, Krum, Industrial, San Saba, Franklin, Sabinal, Floydada, and Wall. The top 6 teams were, (1) Mason (2) Wall, (3) Brock (4) Krum (5) White Oak (6) San Saba. rd place, and Morgan Jimenez came in 7th place. In Division I boys singles Marshall McIntosh came in 4th place and Diego Gonzales won consolation. In Division I boys doubles Houston Casco and Josh Raiford came in 7th place. In Division I mixed doubles Heather Wilcox and Jose Vega won consolation. Regan Hartranft and Diego Lara came in 7th place. In Division II girls singles Joely Haverland won 1st place. In Division II boys singles B.J. Harbour won consolation. In Division II girls doubles Josie Dawson and Kristen Isham came in 4th place. In Division II boys doubles Jonathan Ramirez and Chase Pierce came in 2nd place. Also in division II boys doubles Jairo Casco and Aaron Krueger came in 3rd place.
