Sheriff's Office Reports safe Spring Break
Thursday, March 24, 2011 • Posted March 24, 2011

The Sheriff's Office was very busy during Spring Break 2011, but there were no major injury accidents in the county and minimal arrests. Sheriff Brown stated that "all of the fishing camps were full to overflowing, as well as the state park and the traffic was heavy, but no one was injured and very few went to jail."

Brown also stated that while there were several situations that had to be dealt with, but for the majority of the week everything went smooth and most of the contacts with the public at the parks were good contacts.

The calls during the week of Spring Break usually involve reckless drivers, intoxicated persons, loud parties or large camp fires, things of this nature.

We try to let them police themselves when we can, but we still have to step in on occasion. The majority of the week and weekend of Spring Break, we just tried to be seen and be available to the public.

Sheriff Brown stated that the directors and owners of all three big parks will be meeting and discussing ways to make these areas even more fun and safer in the future.
