Always Ready
Thursday, March 24, 2011 • Posted March 24, 2011

Leo Durocher was once asked who the all-time favorite baseball player he had coached was. He named Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes was a little known pinch hitter, not a really big name player.

Durocher was asked, "What was so special about Dusty Rhodes?"

He replied, "In a tight game when I looked down the bench for a pinch hitter, some players would avert their gaze and refuse to look in my direction. But Dusty Rhodes would look me right in the eye, smile, and tap on his bat." He was always available.

Spiritually speaking, we need to always be ready when an opportunity arises for us to do something special for the Lord’s cause.

1 Peter 3:15: "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."

Don’t look away; be ready to serve the Lord.
