The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met March 10, 2011 for play day with the Chair for March, Dorothy Sterner, calling for a game of ‘pink’ ball, where it is team play rotating the pink ball from one member of the team to the next and taking the score for the team score. The catch is if you loose the pink ball in the water or elsewhere you are out of the competition and the other team wins. The team of Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, and Dorothy Sterner were the winners of the ‘Pink Ball’ as they kept their ball in play, which was the game. However; I am happy to report that the team of Anita Miles, Hattie Rogers, and Jo Ann Snow beat them ten points, but alas no win or prize and it doesn’t mean a ‘hoot’! Anita scored the Low Gross and Low Net for the day, chipped in twice to split the chip in pot with Jo Anne Hardy and Dorothy Sterner, who also chipped in, and won the putt pot with 23 putts, which is the record at this point and will be a real goal for the ladies to shoot for. Anita had her glory day! It’s about time. Dorothy scored the only birdie of the day. Nell McHorse joined the ladies and watched all 18 holes and loved her time in the sun and the ladies loved having Nell!

As the Senior Ladies Tournament is approaching the excitement builds. It is anticipated all year as it is such great competition and fun! The San Saba Ladies will be donating a basket to be raffled off and of course, it has the Pecan theme. If anyone would like to donate to this effort please call Anita Miles at 325-372-3581. We want our basket to be the prettiest and most sought after as we promote San Saba as the Pecan Capital of the World! In the meantime, we must practice, practice, practice, if we expect to come away with winners. So we will be at the San Saba River Golf Course just a ‘swinging!’
