Junior Evans

Junior Evans, 81, of Elm Grove, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Junior was born on December 28, 1929 in Brown County, Texas to Johnnie Willie Evans Sr. and Ina Morrison Evans.

Junior proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Junior and Bonnie Evans were united in marriage on October 1, 1950 in Elm Grove. Junior made his living as a farmer/rancher and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Richland Springs and was a co-teacher of a Sunday School there. He was an active supporter of Richland Springs youth and of Richland Springs School Sports Programs. Junior was a former member of the San Saba Hospital Board, Farm & Home Administration Committee, and Richland Springs School Board. He was one of the initial founders of Elm Grove’s Youth Rodeo Association.

Junior is survived by his wife, Bonnie Evans of Elm Grove, Texas; his daughter, Melissa Evans of Arlington, Texas; his daughter - in - law, Linda Evans of Early, Texas; his grandchildren, Nathan Evans and Emily Evans both of Chicago, Illinios; his sisters, Bonnie Fred Evans of Abilene, Texas and Joann Powell of Jacksonville, Arkansas; and his several nieces and nephews. Junior is preceded in death by his son, David Evans and his parents.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Howell Doran Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas. A viewing was from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Richland Springs First Baptist Church. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Richland Springs First Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Fikes, Rev. G.W.Neiderhofer, and Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment was at Varga Chapel Cemetery. Memorials can be made to San Saba County EMS or donor’s favorite charity.
