Warning of phone scam
Thursday, March 17, 2011 • Posted March 17, 2011

People in San Saba are receiving calls from 1-800-326-2290 (the call could be from another 800 number) advising they have been selected as a winner from Publisher's Clearing House. The caller asks for 5% of the taxes on the money to be paid up front.

If you call back a number that shows on your called ID from area code 809 (Dominican Republic), 284 (British Virgin Islands or 876 (Jamaica), you will be held on the line as long as possible and be charged at a rate of possibly $2,425.00 per minute.

BE AWARE OF THESE SCAMS. If you receive a recorded message, DO NOT call back to these area codes, 809, 284 or 876.
