Richland Springs Highschool One Act Play To perform

The Richland Springs High School One Act Play, August: Osage County by Tracy Letts will be performed for the public on Monday night, March 21

August: Osage County

The one act version has been cut to forty minutes to meet the UIL contest rules. Starring in the play are: Jonathon Patino, DeAnna Grady, Brooke Vaughn, Brennen McGinty, Katelynn Teel, Sara Hedley, Brooklyn McGinty, Elbert Thomas, Melanie Bradley, and Joe Avila. Serving as the sound technician is Stephen Fowler, and Thomas Hollon serves as the lighting technician. Serving as stage manager is Denim Reeves. Working as the crew and serving as alternates are: Cheyenne Tharp, Ben VanCleave, Thomas Fowler, and Taylor Jones. The play is directed by Mrs. Patsy Hall.

is a dark comedic play which premiered in Chicago, Illinois in 2007. It debuted on Broadway later that year and played to a packed theatre. The play has now traveled the world and been performed in London, England, Israel, Australia, Germany, Argentina, Austria, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Sweden, Peru, and other countries. August has won numerous awards, including the Drama Desk Award for Best New Play in 2008 as well as the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Play, the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Broadway Play, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play, and made the list for the best plays of the decade by Entertainment Weekly. Entertainment Weekly wrote of the play "Even with a run time of three and a half hours, Tracy Letts’ 2007 drama of Southern-fried familial dysfunction went by in one lightning-fast jolt of pure theatrical electricity."st in the Richland Springs Cafetorium. A spaghetti supper will be served at 6:00, and the play will begin at 7:00. Tickets are $5.00 for the meal and the play, and proceeds will go to support the One Act Play.
