The first round of TAKS testing is history. TAKS testing scores are an important aspect of accountability for school districts. Richland Springs ISD is striving to become a Recognized district. Expectations are set high for Richland Springs staff and students!

The Richland Springs Coyotes finished the season at 14-4. The Coyotes met a tough Priddy team at the area playoffs. Priddy had a post who was 6’5"and he dominated the rebounds. Thanks to Coach Shawn Rogers and the varsity boys for a memorable and exciting basketball season.

The All-District basketball teams were announced today. Elbert Thomas was District Defensive Player of the Year. Tra Williams was 1

st team. Chance Bush was 2nd team. Stephen Fowler, Brennen McGinty, John Greenwood, and Denim Reeves were Honorable Mention. Lady Coyotes selected are Cheyenne Tharp as 2nd team. Brooklyn McGinty, Emily Smith, and Stormi Davee were Honorable Mention. Academic All-District selections were Ashley Ferguson, Cheyenne Tharp, and Emily Smith. Congratulations on your accomplishments!

February 21st – February 25th was Texas Severe Weather Awareness Week. Severe weather may strike with only a few minutes of advance warning. Richland Springs School participated in the National Weather Service’s tornado warning drill for schools on February 24. Emergency preparedness for tornadoes is part of our district’s Emergency Operations Plan. Students also participated in a fire drill on Thursday as a wind-blown grass fire burned a portion of the football practice field and the highway right-of-way adjacent to the school. Your child’s safety is our #1 concern.

Cheerleader tryouts will be held March 11. March 11 is the Friday before Spring Break. Spring Break will be March 14 - March 18.

Attendance is important! Encourage your child to be at school every day. The elementary students in Accelerated Reading (AR) were recently rewarded with an ice cream party for meeting their goals. Junior high and high school students who exceeded their reading goals were treated to a meal. READERS ARE LEADERS!

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.

Community involvement is the key to our success!

Richland Springs Drama Club presents Harvey McFadden's Tribute to Elvis Saturday, March 5 at Richland Springs Cafetorium. $10 for BBQ meal and show. Meal begins at 5:30 and show starts at 7:00 - 8:30
