A thunder storm came up Sunday night with lightening and rolling thunder and very little rain around the Bend. One tenth was in the rain gauge. The Spring like weather is making the fruit trees start to put on a little green and of course what little grass around is getting green also. This month has gone and now we are waiting to see how March is going to start, either like a lamb or like a lion.

Bad Bob’s Bend store reported that the fishing has picked up and the white bass is being caught. He also reported that the store has started the summer hours which are 8:30 -6:00 p.m. every day except Tuesday when it is closed and open on Sunday 9-5:00 p.m. The jam sessions are still being held on Sunday afternoons. If you play an instrument and want to play, you will be more than welcome to join in.

Wes and Brandie Harris are expecting a new addition to their family. He is a teacher in the Lampasas school system.

Lola Morris reported that a relative, Minnie Washam of Brenham passed away Saturday. Her funeral was Tuesday in Welcome.

A memorial service for John Hicks who passed away last week was held in Alvarado Monday afternoon. Saturday, March 5 a bereavement luncheon will be

held for the family members at the Bend Community Center and at 2:00 p.m. a memorial service will be held also at the Center. John will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

Carl Adams spent a couple of days visiting Jackie and Charlene Brister after his round of Chemo. The family enjoyed having Carl in their home. Charlene reported that the fishing camp would be full over the Spring Break.

Sulphur Springs Fishing Camp reported that all their cabins were booked, but still had room for RV’s and tent campers on a first come basis.
