Last week my wife went up to the chicken house to gather the eggs and as she started to open the gate she noticed a hawk walking wobbly on the ground. He seemed addled and disoriented so she brought him home and put him in a special cage we have near the house. He was trying to catch the chickens but what that Hawk did not realize was that last year I covered the chicken pen with a special wire, (chicken wire) to protect them from just such things as hawks. That hawk reminds me of something in the Bible. Every living person has a enemy and he wants to kill or destroy us, (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8). He is a liar, deceiver, uses anything to trap or ensnare us, (Ephesians 6:16). He is known by several names like the evil one, Satan or the devil, (Revelation 12:9). The world and anyone without or not trusting in Christ as personal savior is under his power, (1 John 5:19).They are even called his children, (John 8:44, Acts 13:10). Without Christ we are helpless, but there is hope. Jesus Christ came to save us and to deliver us or protect us from the evil one, (Matthew 6:13, John 17:15, Acts 10:38). Our sins are forgiven when we have Christ and in Him we are protected from the evil one, (1 John 2:12-14, 5:18). See you in Church next Sunday.
