New Life

Haven’t we had some beautiful weather? After it has been cold and icy, the sun and short-sleeve shirts feel good. This is a beautiful time of the year we are entering. Outside our back steps there is a clover plant that has pink blooms on it. I thought it would not come back after the drought last year and the fact that we were gone some and it didn’t get watered. But it is there. Back as beautiful as ever.

In the next few weeks we will see much new growth as the grass, trees and flowers all come back to life. God has blessed us and splashes all different colors on His giant easel called earth. There are a couple of things about this I want us to think about.

First, for most of us God has blessed us with the ability to see His world and the beautiful colors in it. How often we take our eyesight for granted. When we lose the ability to see, a large portion of our world has died to us. Be thankful for your eyesight. My mom has macular-degenerative disease in her eyes and can’t see clearly now. Thank you, Lord, for my eyesight.

Secondly, I am reminded that after death comes life. The trees, with their barren limbs, come back to life and are beautiful to see. They start with the bloom and fully develop. As they do they remind us we shall live after this life is over.

In the New Testament we see that Jesus died and rose again (John 18-20; 1 Cor. 15). Because of His dying and resurrection we are promised that will happen to us (1 Thess. 4:13-19). As sad as death is for us, the thought of living is so precious. One day we shall be resurrected to either (1) live eternally with Jesus or (2) to live eternally with Satan (Matt. 25:31-46). It does matter how we live our lives. Daily our walk must be with Jesus. Thank you Father for raising Jesus from the dead.

If you are reading these words and are not prepared to meet God, will you not make preparation today? If you have strayed away from God, will you not come home today? It is your choice. It is your destiny. God has done all to prepare us this beautiful place, don’t miss out on it!
