The San Saba Ladies Golf Association had a delayed business meeting on February 17, 2011, as the weather has made it impossible to have a quorum.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Anita Miles, and she called on Hattie Rogers to open the meeting with prayer. The Secretary, Jo Anne Hardy, read the minutes and they were approved as read. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, was present to watch the play day but didn’t have the financial report, but there has been little high finance this last cold winter month.

Sandee Hartley, the Traveling 4-Ball Chair, announced that the tournaments will begin March 16 at Delaware Springs. This is the site where the spring tournament of the Texas Amateur Senior Ladies of Texas will be held, so several ladies plan to attend for a practice round.

Anita Miles called for a game of the point system, in preparation for the 4-ball event, with team play. Hattie Rogers, Dorothy Sterner, and Janet Hoyt edged out Anita Miles, Jo Ann Snow, and Linda Ragsdale by one point to capture first place. Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, and Becky Hardin were the third team in the competition. Anita scored the Low Gross for the day and also won the ‘penny pot’ with 29 putts. The ladies are now putting in a penny for each putt and the low putter for the day wins the pot. Dorothy scored the Low Net for the day and Jo Ann Snow won the chip in pot. Sandee scored the only birdie of the day. This was Linda’s first day on the links for play and she has great potential. We expect great things of our newest member!

Isn’t it wonderful to live in Texas where you can be playing golf in February while other folks are shoveling snow! I played a word game with a lady in another state and she said I am so jealous, when I told her I was from Texas. Are we proud or what? Let’s just keep on smiling and ‘swinging’!
