San Saba ISD is so very excited to host the first track meet we have had in three years. Thanks to the San Saba County Economic Development Corporation for assisting the District in their efforts to refurbish the San Saba Mill Pond Track Complex. The track was renovated in May, 2010 and it is ready to go for track season. As well, the jumping pits have been refurbished and will be ready for use. The renovated track will allow SSISD to host both a high school and a junior high track meet this school year. The first meet will be held on February 22, 2011. Junior high teams from across the area will be in attendance at this meet as it will be the first for most of the schools in the area. To date we have seven schools entered for the meet. The coaches report that the meet will be in a format where there will be no field events, but all running events will be offered. Since it is the first event of track season, there will be no preliminaries and everyone who would like to run in a race will be allowed to do so. The coaches have ordered 450 ribbons and we are expecting a very big crowd. With the kiddos the parents will come as well. We hope that by hosting these types of events that bring people to our community, the community will see some economic impact as well. If you have an opportunity to come out for this track meet I am sure you will enjoy seeing these kiddos give it all they can as they try to earn a spot in the various running events for their schools. The high school track meet is tentatively set for Thursday, April 7. We will provide you more information on this as the season goes along.

Please help us in congratulating our Lady Dillos! The Lady Armadillos have had an exceptional season once again. These girls really showed what they were made of when they dug down deep for a spot in the playoffs! THANKS, Lady ’Dillos for a great season and good luck in the Playoffs!!! THANKS Coach Taylor and Coach Stowe for your dedication to the team.
