Do you suppose that this last weeks snows was the last? Don’t get your hopes up, because there is still some bad weather ahead. You can always know that

after the good days, there are always bad that will follow. Sunday patches of snow could be seen in the shade along the road way around the Baird and Clyde area. We were lucky here as the snow melted very quickly and of course we didn’t have near as much as those folks did.

The weather was perfect Monday,so no one could say the weather was the reason a loved one didn’t receive a Valentine card, or better yet, a nice meal out for that someone who is special in your life.

The Bend Community Meeting will be this Saturday, February 19, be there at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy the meal. Everyone is welcome, and asked to be sure to bring one of your favorite recipes and/or dessert. After the meal and a short business meeting Games will be played.

The home of Rufus and Tommye was a very busy place this past weekend. Oscar and Lorie Williams and daughter Christianna, Kort Marley, Adam, Becka and Kadance of Katy and Tanya, Jeff Chalfant and Ashely of Cedar Park came in over the weekend.

Jimmy and Sylvia Stinnett was in Lubbock over the weekend visiting their new grand baby Charlotte Stinnett and attended the wedding Saturday of Kenneth

Shirley and Vanessa McChesney.

William and Jane Clark and their children also attended the wedding; Boyd and his boys of Lubbock; Doug, Kristi Messer and their children of Lampasas; Jamie Houdyshell and her sons of Bend; Bobby and Kit Clark of Round Rock. Other family members who attended were Lloyd and Pam Henniger; Emerson and Gladys Brister of Thrall; Buddy and Charlotte Albert of Thrall and a number of more relatives attended the Shirley wedding in Lubbock. Jane reported that Friday they woke up to three degree weather and the hotel where they stayed had water lines that burst. The rehearsals and the rehearsal dinner held Friday night went off with no problems, as did the wedding Saturday.

Bill and Doris Poe of Lometa was out visiting relatives Sunday afternoon and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Sunday night at the Methodist church a covered basket supper was held. All the ladies of the church made up some beautiful baskets filled with all sorts of goodies. Instead of men bidding on the baskets, each basket had a number attached and numbers were drawn to see who got what basket. If the women out numbered the men, the women drew numbers to be sure that no one went without a basket of goodies. A great way to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Kanton Keeney who will celebrate a birthday February 21, to Jane Tinney and Nana Marley whose birthday is February 22.
