Spring is almost here and it’s time to start thinking plants for birds, butterflies and native pollinators. Create your own backyard habitat and help to conserve our natural resources. Learn how landscape design features can help attract wildlife to the home landscape. Learn which plants will attract butterflies and other beneficial insects, songbirds and other wildlife to the home landscape.

Melissa Sturdivant is a Soil Conservationist with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and works in the Mason Field Office. Prior to working for the NRCS, Melissa worked as a County Extension Agent. Melissa earned her Master’s degree in Plant and Soil Sciences from Texas Tech University, and is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture.

San Saba Bird and Nature Club will host a program by Melissa Sturdivant on February 15, 2011 at the San Saba Civic Center at 7PM. Everyone is invited. For more information call 325-372-3107.
