Hill Country Transit District to hold Grand Opening of new Administrative facility

The staff of Hill Country Transit District, Central Texas’ Regional Public Transit Provider, would like to issue an invitation to everyone to attend the Grand Opening of their new administrative facility on Friday, February 11

th, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 906 S. High, San Saba.

HCTD provides and coordinates both rural and urban public transportation within the counties of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, Milam, Mills, and San Saba. Fixed Route bus services are provided in the cities of Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, and Temple.

HCTD has been in existence since 1966, first as a division of Hill Country Community Action Assn., Inc. and since 1998 as a separate entity that exists solely for the purpose of providing professional public transportation services. The system has grown from a fleet of 40 buses and 35 staff in 1985 to 165 buses and 150 staff in 2011.

A combination of federal and state grants and local funds from the entities served allows HCTD to provide mobility to thousands of people, improve their quality of life, and to stimulate economic development in the Central Texas region.
