Juanita Amstead, 87, of Fredericksburg, TX passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at a Fredericksburg care facility. Juanita was born on September 5, 1923 in San Saba, TX to Joseph and Bessie Maultsby. Juanita and Laurence F. Amstead were united in marriage on June 21, 1945 in San Saba, TX until Laurence passed away on August 16, 1980. Juanita was a secretary and was a member of the Baptist church.

Juanita is survived by her sisters, Eddie Onisto and her husband Joseph of Fredericksburg, TX; Hazel Adams of Fredericksburg, TX; Gertrude Cice and her husband Carl of Cedar Creek, TX; Joyce Gaylor and her husband Arlan of Abilene, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Jack Maultsby; three sisters, Frances Fain, Betty Maultsby, and Shirley Williams.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Howell Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Craig officiating. Interment was at the San Saba Cemetery (no graveside service).

The family asks that all memorials be made to San Saba County EMS or Hill Country Memorial Hospice.
