San Saba Masonic Lodge Charter draped for memorial

The charter of San Saba Masonic Lodge No. 612 was draped at the last meeting February 5th in memory of the passing of two Master Masons.

James Elton Bennett was born 3 August 1922 in San Saba County. He was made an EA 1 November 1947, FC 3 January 1948 and raised to the degree of a Master Mason 6 March 1948 in San Saba Lodge. He was a 50 year Mason and died 30 April 2010 as reported to the lodge in November last year.

John Earl McPherson, Sr. was born 21 February 1951 in Williamson County, Texas. He was made an EA 8 January 1983, FC 12 February 1983 and raised to the degree of a Master Mason 12 March 1983 in Richland Springs Lodge No. 882. Brother McPherson served as Secretary of that lodge 1990-2010 and was the Worshipful Master in 1986 and 1987. He affiliated with San Saba Lodge in 1984, served as Secretary in 2000 and 2001 and as Worshipful Master 1997 and 1998. He also served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 70th Masonic District 1989-1990. Brother McPherson was also the recipient of the Golden Trowel Award from both lodges, which is the highest honor a lodge can bestow on a member.
