Family loses home in tragic fire
Thursday, February 10, 2011 • Posted February 10, 2011

On the coldest day of the year, a family lost their home and all of their belongings in a structure fire. San Saba Sheriff's deputies, San Saba EMS, Richland Springs, Elm Grove and San Saba Fire Departments all joined forces in an attempt to save the home but were unsuccessful.

The cold weather hampered local fire departments as it did others all across the state with freezing temperatures and a blowing wind that had wind chill near or below zero.

Fire equipment was freezing up and it became impossible to get control of the fire. Firemen did all that they could, but were unable to save the home. Please keep the family in your prayers and our firemen as well.

If you would like to assist this family, please call the Sheriff's office at 325-372-5551 or 5432 and leave your contact information and we will put you in touch with someone who can take your donation or advise you how you can help.
