Marie Cothren

Marie Cothren, 87, of Denver City, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 in Lubbock.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 31

Marie was born October 26, 1923 in Bertram, TX to Charles and Neva Pruitt. She married Rube Cothren in San Saba, TX on April 10, 1943. They moved to Denver City from San Saba in 1950. Marie was a band sponsor and a Yoakum County Hospital Ladies Auxillary Pink Lady for many years. She was a member of the Denver City Church of Christ, and was a homemaker. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Rube Cothren, December 21, 2006, and a brother, R. L. Pruittt.

Marie is survived by a son, Jim Cothren and wife, Bonnie, of Denver City; a daughter, Jeanne Marie Earle and husband, Phillip of Denver City; a sister, Charlene Rollins of Madill, OK; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the Denver City Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Sturdivant, Willie Burleson, Lloyd Hart, Dan Sellers, John D. Sturdivant, Prentis Sturdivant, Billy Sturdivant, Jody Polston, Gene Benningfield, Bob Champion and Vernon Wright.

st, at 10:00 A.M. in the Denver City Church of Christ with Brother Skip Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
