Thursday, January 27, 2011 • Posted January 27, 2011

The Wallace Creek EE Club met Thursday, January 20 at the home of Imogene Hawkins.

Lynn Blankenship called the meeting to order. The 2011 yearbooks were issued to each of the members. The minutes were read from the November 2010 meeting. There was not a December meeting. The treasurer's report was given. The council report was given.

February 4 will be a May Event committee meeting, Doris and Lynn will attend. The time will be 12:30, just before the council meeting. April 12 will be the District meeting. Imogene is the nominee. The District TEEA meeting will be held in Anson.

The Pecan Food Show was discussed. There were many entries and everything was sold early. Our member, Imogene Hawkins won with her Pecan Pralines, and also won with her pecan entry in the Pecan Show, held earlier in the week. The Pecan Food Show Winners cookbook will have some changes next time around.

At the February meeting our club needs to turn the By-Laws in to the Extension Office. Lynn Blankenship, Imogene Hawkins and Doris Cates participated with the Youth Fair. The youth of the county did very good with their entries. The meeting was adjourned.

Before the program the members answered roll call, "Tell a joke or tell something funny that happened to you." Lynn gave the program, "The Health Effects of Humor and Laughter." Some of the health benefits are: relaxed muscle tone, increased heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen consumption followed by a lower base rate that is similar to rates after exercise; decreased self-reported anxiety, heart rate and blood pressure; relaxation as measured by biofeedback; increased immune system response, and decreased stress hormones. The members took a sense of humor test.

Imogene Hawkins was hostess, serving a delicious pie, hot spiced tea and hot chocolate to Lynn Blankenship, Noma Fitzgerald, Mary Frances Herrington, Margie Osburn and Doris Cates.
