Danny Duggan, 59, of Cherokee, TX passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin,TX.

Danny was born on September 3, 1951 in Pecos, TX to Jerry and Mary Duggan.

Danny and Janiece were married on August 7, 1970 in Waco, TX. Danny was the Executive Director of Cherokee Home for Children and was a member of the Cherokee Church of Christ. Danny was a very special person and touched the lives of everyone he met.

Danny left behind a legacy of family, service, and Christianity that impacted all who have known him. His ties to family extend far beyond blood as he opened his arms to countless children and families over the last thirty-five years. Danny believed in serving others as he walked through life ready to give anything he had to someone that might need it. Finally, Danny’s life, family, and relationships were built on a solid foundation of commitment to God. He passed from this life as a result of an accident during a fellowship basketball game with the children he served and other Christian servants. Danny provided us a glimpse of Heaven throughout his life. Today he gazes over the majesty of Heaven and has left us prepared to carry on his legacy.

Danny is survived by his wife, Janiece of Cherokee; his children, Kaci Morrison and her husband Tommy of Cherokee; Jerrod and his wife Kim of F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming; Ryan and his wife Laci of Sterling City, TX and Malcom of Snohomish, WA; his grandchildren, Talli and Tori Morrison, Landon and Mason Duggan, Payton and Preslee Duggan; his parents, Jerry and Mary Duggan of Waco,TX; his brothers, Dale Duggan and his wife Linda of Crews, TX; and Tim Duggan and his wife Jackie of Waco, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; a foster son, Jeff Presswood and family, as well as countless other children who called him "Dad", and his foster grandson, Kevin Jones.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the San Saba Church of Christ at 2nd and Wallace St. with Azil Tipps, Gene Dewveall, Larry Rogers, Robert Baugh, Dan Cox, Randy Schow, Jack Goble and Wayland Dobbs officiating.

Interment was at the Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, TX. The family received friends on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Howell Doran Funeral Home Chapel.
