SSJV Boys Basketball Report
Thursday, January 20, 2011 • Posted January 20, 2011

First off, my apologies to the JV Dillo fans for not having an update in last weeks paper. The blame is all mine as I failed to complete my article by the newspaper deadline.

The Dillos have played 4 district ballgames since the last update. On Tuesday January 4

th, our teams traveled to Dublin. The JV boys played well and came away with the victory by the score of 40-27. Scoring for the JV Dillos: Isaac Zepeda (2), Luis Vega (6), Kelan Verette (18), Ryan Guidroz (4), Russell Lowe (2), Aaron Perez (6), and Ruston Ellis (2).

On Friday, January 7

th, the boys were at home as they took on the talented JV from Bangs. We lost a hard fought game by the score of 45-42 to the JV Dragons. Scoring for the Dillos: Zepeda (2), Vega (2), Sean Argote (2), Verette (18), Guidroz (4), Lowe (4), and Perez with 10.

On Tuesday January 11

th, the JV Dillos were again at home, this time taking on Hamilton’s JV. In one of our better performances, we came out on top by the score of 43-31. We had played Hamilton earlier this season in the San Saba tourney, a game we lost by 16. Scoring for the Dillos: Vega (3), Argote (2), Verette (11), Guidroz (4), Lowe (12), and Perez (11).

On Friday, January 14

th, all our teams traveled to Coleman to take on the Bluecats. Coleman is another very good JV team, and we came up just short, losing by the score of 29-27. Scoring in this game came from: Vega (4), Verette (10), Guidroz (5), Lowe (4), and Perez (4).

As a quick side note. Most of what I can report to the paper is points scored by each player. Our JV team is really a hard nosed, great bunch of kids that is great to coach. When we play really good defense, create turnovers, and take care of the ball, we are usually successful. All eight of our JV purple team contribute greatly every game, regardless of who happens to score the points that particular night.

This week the Dillos will be traveling to Hico on Tuesday the 18

th, then will play at home on Friday the 21st against Comanche.
