On Jan. 4, the Dillos traveled to Dublin for their second district game of the season. Dublin is one of the favorites to make that playoffs from our district. In the first quarter, Dublin was pretty hot from the 3-point line and made three 3's in the first quarter and took a 19-13 lead. At the half, Dublin led 31-21.
In the second half the Dillos offensive scoring took a turn for the worse and we only scored 12 points in the second half. Dublin scored 24 in the second half and won the game 55-33. Leading scorer for the Dillos was Tucker Cromer with 17. Others scoring: Luke Cox 11, Clayton Perry 2, Ryan 2, J.T. Mathis 1.
On Jan. 07, the Dillos hosted Bangs. Bangs is another talented team who is favorite to make the playoffs in our District. Bangs jumped out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Dillos gained some ground and outscored Bangs 12-9 and cut Bangs' lead 22-18 at the half.
The second half was a little tough for the Dillos. We only mustered 8 points in the second half and Bangs scored 26. Bangs won the game 26-48. We have had a hard time the last couple of games scoring in the second half. I was real proud of how our kids played the first half against Bangs. Bangs jumped out on us early and our kids fought back and cut their lead to four going into the second half. We are going to have to get offensive production up in the second half for us to be more successful. Tucker Cromer led the scoring against Bangs with 10 points. Others scoring: J.T. Mathis 7, Luke Cox 5, Jose Vega 2, Zack Davis and Ryan Pannell 1.
We will have hosted Hamilton on Tuesday, Jan. 11 and will travel to Coleman on Friday, Jan. 14.
