The state championship victory brings recognition not only to the community and school, but also to individual players who excel in their sport. Several players received All State recognition. Denim Reeves is Player of the Year, Stephen Soto-Thornhill is 1

Girls’ basketball coach Pam Starr and the Lady Coyotes are off to a 0-4 district start. Boys’ basketball coach Shawn Rogers and the varsity boys are off to a 3-0 district start. Varsity action continues this Tuesday against Cherokee at Cherokee, and Friday against Lohn at Richland Springs. Games start at 6:30 p.m. The junior high teams did not play this week. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.

TAKS reading and writing tests begin March 1, 2011. Parents are urged to contact their child’s teacher(s) to see how they can help their student be successful on this year’s TAKS tests.

Gerald McKee and ag students have been busy shearing animals for the San Saba County Stock Show which begins Friday, January14th. There will be an early release at 12:55 on Thursday, January 13, 2011, with no school on the 14

st team Center, Chance Bush is 1st team Wide Receiver, Bryan Torres is 1st team Kicker and also 1st team Noseguard, Stephen Fowler is 1st team Cornerback, John Greenwood is 1st team Defensive Lineman, and Ben VanCleave is 2nd team Tight End. Michael Brand, Shawn Rogers, and Jerry Burkhart were Six-man coaches of the Year. This peer recognition means a great deal to both players and coaches. Players and coaches were measured for their state championship rings on Monday, January 10th.th. As usual, we have a Blue Norther and cold weather scheduled for stock show week. Bundle up and keep the home fires burning.
