Over an inch and half of rain fell in and around the Bend, which was most welcome as well as needed. The bad news is a cold front is supposed to coming in this week also. By the time you read this you will know first hand

all about it.

Tommye Cobern had her eye surgery last week and reported that she can see better than before she had the surgery, which is good news. She will now be able to see better to play the games she is so fond of. Congratulation goes out to John Books who did very well at the stock show in Lampasas this year. He entered five pigs and placed all of them. He won a first, second, third, fourth and seventh and won the Intermediate Showmanship. His sister Catherine won a trophy and ribbon in the peewee showmanship division. John will be taking his pigs to the Fort Worth show in a few weeks.

This past week Tommie Tinney has been busy helping Richard Matsler put up a new barn to store equipment in.

Yankee LeMaster and Bob Davis have been busy fishing. No report of what they have been catching, just that they have been fishing.

Sunday after church a birthday party for Jaylee Messer was held at the home of William and Jane Clark. The ones attending were Jaylee’s parents Doug and Kristi and brother Jordan of Lampasas; Jamie, A.J. and Andrew Houdyshell of Bend and Bob Collins of Lampasas.

A game day has been scheduled at the Bend Community Center. It will be on Tuesday of every week at 2:00 p.m. starting January 18. Everyone is invited to attend and bring your favorite game and card table.

It was reported that Geoffrey and Lindsey and their new baby was in over the weekend visiting his parent’s Pat and Bonnie Millican. In next weeks news

just might have more information concerning the visit.

The Bend Community meeting will be Saturday, January 15, 2011, the meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. The supper will be chili, and stew and everyone is invited to attend. Please bring your favorite dish and /or a dessert. After the meal new officers will be elected.

A special happy birthday wish goes out to Emma Johnson in the Eventide nursing home who will be celebrating her birthday January 14.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Haley Price whose birthday is January 15, to Devin Lucas, and Deidra Nixon whose birthday is January 16, to Valerie Price whose birthday is January 18, to Mebbie Eckhoff who will celebrate a birthday January 19. To Alton Pope whose birthday is January 20.

Congratulation goes out to Sylvia and Jimmy Stinnett who will be celebrating their anniversary January 20.
