Royce A. Templeton

Funeral Services for Royce A. Templeton of Brownwood formerly of Bangs, Texas was held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Early, Texas. Interment followed at the Richland Springs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The familyreceived friends 6:00 – 8:00 Saturday at the funeral home. He passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Royce Ashley Templeton was born on February 23, 1919 in Richland Springs, Texas to George and Aurora Willis Templeton. He was a veteran of United States Army having served during WW II. On September 23, 1946 he married Hetty Jenell Shirley in Richland Springs. In 1963 they moved to Lawn, Texas and then to Bangs, Texas. In 1968 he served on the Bangs School Board and the Bangs City Council. He was a farmer, retired building subcontractor, an avid high school sports fan and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Royce is survived by his wife, Jenell Shirley Templeton of Brownwood, Texas; children, Linda Groves and husband Chester of Grapevine, Texas; Sharon Dick and husband George of Bangs, Texas; David Templeton and wife Georgann of Leesville, Louisiana; Janet Griffin and husband Frank of Brownwood, Texas; Dale Templeton and wife Jan of San Angelo, Texas; Kevin Templeton of Bangs, Texas; eighteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Olan Dick; sisters Vivian Grimes, Allie Brown and Georgia Jones; brothers Edgar Templeton and Willis Templeton.
