Nominations are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual San Saba Awards Recognition Banquet to be held on March 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the San Saba Civic Center. These awards will recognize the efforts of individuals and companies that enhance and improve San Saba. Girls break out your grass skirts and guys put on your hawaiian shirts, as the theme of this year’s banquet is "It’s Hula Time In Texas".

Only 400 tickets will be sold and they will go fast! Tickets are on sale now for $10.00 each at San Saba City Hall, 303 South Clear Street in San Saba. The San Saba Volunteer Fire Department will be cooking "Island Pork Chops" and The San Saba County Chamber Directors will be serving all the hawaiian side dishes, as our servers, for the third year in a row. This year’s entertainment will feature authentic Lei Greeters, Hawaiian Dancers, and Tiki Fire Dancers from "Baila Pacifica Entertainment." There will be hula lessons, a wide array of island fruit, desserts, drinks, and a Grand Prize, all included in the price of your ticket. This year’s catagories are as follows:

This award recognizes the most outstanding Man and Woman for the year. They will be judged on their demonstrated positive leadership in enhancing and improving San Saba.

Heritage Award:

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated positive, dynamic, selfless public-spirited leadership in enhancing and improving San Saba. This award is a Life Time Achievement Award and the award time frame is over a period of years.

Business of the Year:

This award recognizes a business that has for the past year led the way in enhancing and improving San Saba.

Visionary Award:

This award is presented by the awards committee and recognizes the dedication of an individual who possess extraordinary passion, creativity, leadership, vision, and imagination.

To place a nomination for the above awards:

1. Pick up a nomination form at San Saba News and Star, KNUZ Radio, San Saba City Hall, Super S Foods, G & R Grocery, and ALCO Stores. A nomination form is also included on page 4 of this edition.

2. Mail your nomination to the San Saba City Hall at 303 South Clear, San Saba, Texas 76877 or hand deliver it to the San Saba City Hall at 303 South Clear San Saba, Texas 76877.

3. Entries must be received no later than February 14, 2011.

Judges will make their decision on the nomination and any other information available to them. The decision of the judges will be final.
