County Commissioners discuss purchasing breathalyzer for

The San Saba County Commissioners Court met on Monday, December 27th at 9 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order and noted that this would be Commissioner Roger McGehee’s last Court meeting. McGehee has been County Commissioner for 12 years.

Pat Poole was in attendance and was welcomed to the court and will be sworn in as County Commissioner at the beginning of 2011. Commissioner McGehee gave the invocation with everyone joining him for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

After discussing the Conservation Contract rates, the matter was tabled for the next Court meeting for the input of Commissioner Kenley Kroll who was absent at the meeting.

There was a discussion regarding purchasing a Breathalyzer at the cost of $419 for the County Sheriff’s Department. Chief Deputy Bill Price and Judge Les Dawson gave information also. The purchase will be considered at the next Commissioners Court.

Action was taken on the following items:

1. The Accounts Payable presented by Treasurer Gayla Hawkins to be paid.

2. One new employee will be added the first week of January.

3. The Burn Ban enacted on November 9th will remain in effect.

4. The next Commissioners Court will be Monday, January 17th at 9 a.m.

On Monday, January 3rd at 9 a.m., County Clerk Kim Wells will be sworn in by Judge Les Dawson.County Clerk Wells will then swear in Commissioners Pat Poole, Rickey Lusty, and Judge Les Dawson.

County Coordinator, Marsha Hardy, reported that the Fema funds were deposited from the Texas Department of Rural Affairs. The funds were overdue and are needed for budgeted items.

Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting. Those in attendance were: County Judge Byron Theodosis; County Clerk, Kim Wells; County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins; Administrative Assistant, Cathi Miles; County Commissioners, Roger McGehee, Rickey Lusty, Otis Judkins; Chief Deputy, Bill Price; Justice of the Peace Les Dawson; County Coordinator, Marsha Hardy; Pat Poole and San Saba News & Star Reporter, Alice Smith.
