Eventide Volunteer of the Year Named
Thursday, December 23, 2010 • Posted December 23, 2010

Sandra Key is a woman of small stature, but don't let her size fool you, as she has a big personality, a big heart and is eager to share all that she has to offer to our residents.

Sandra is more than a volunteer. She has become like family to residents, employees, family members and visitors alike. She enjoys catering to our residents every whim and request. She comes to our home on almost a daily basis, lending a helping hand and spreading her joy to all that she comes in contact with, with her contagious smile and laugh.

We are so thankful to have her as part of our Eventide family.

What has been life's greatest transition for you?

Becoming a widow.

What is your Christmas tradition?

Baking blueberry muffins for my great niece and nephew, chocolate chip cookies, fudge, and banana nut bread.

Something that you did as a youth that you no longer do during the holidays?

Put out socks for fruit, nuts, and candy on Christmas Eve.

Who is your inspiration and why?

Jesus Christ, because He lived the perfect life and has called me to do the same.

What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

The family gathering, baking, seeing how much the kids have all grown.

If you were to receive the perfect gift from Santa this year, what would it be?

Gas money for family visits around the state.

Which reindeer would you be?

Prancer.

Most memorable gift that you received as a child?

Twin dolls.

My grandmother, who lived away from us hadn't even seen them, but made me two matching outfits that fit perfectly. I never knew how she did that.
