Middle School All Region Tryouts
Thursday, December 16, 2010 • Posted December 16, 2010

This past Friday, 26 middle school band students traveled to the Early Middle School to compete in the annual Region 7 Middle School All Region tryouts. SSMS band students competed against other middle school students from region 7 in class 1A- 3A (over 350 students) to earn a chair placement in one 86 piece region band. These students prepared for many months on challenging music. The directors strongly encourage students to compete, and the students that choose to compete must first complete a pre-audition for the directors to qualify.

All of San Saba’s 26 students competed well in their instrument sections and 13 students earned a chair in the band! This is the most middle school students San Saba has ever had make the 86 piece region band. Our students alone made up 15% of the honor band. In fact, San Saba had more students make the region band than any other school except Llano! We also had at least one student make a chair in every instrument section.

The following students are the students that represented San Saba in the region band and performed a concert in Ballinger on Saturday December 11th: Katy Ingram (Flute-4

th chair), Leigh Riggs (Flute-8th chair), Stormy Ramos (Flute-9th chair), Rubi Rojas (Clarinet-5th chair), John Watson (Alto Sax-5th chair), Sarita Vega (French Horn-3rd chair), Carter Eden (Trumpet-11th chair), Dylan Edmondson (Trombone-1st Chair!), Seth Lackey (Euphonium-2nd chair), Ricardo Garica (Tuba-5th chair), Micah Cox (Percussion-2nd chair), John Welch (Percussion-3rd chair), Logan Guidroz (Percussion-6th chair)
