Thursday, December 16, 2010 • Posted December 16, 2010

Several changes have been made for the 2011 Youth Fair on January 13-15, 2011. The most prominent change is the location. Due to space problems, the Fair will be held at the Civic Center. Registration will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. (note the time change) at the Civic Center. No pre-registration is required and there is no cost to enter the fair. Judges will begin judging at 5 p.m. The Youth Fair will re-open at 7:30 p.m. for public viewing. On Friday exhibits at the Youth Fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will also be open Saturday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Exhibitors can pick up their entries beginning at 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The San Saba County Livestock Show Auction will also be taking place at the Civic Center. The photography category has new categories which include:

Digital Darkroom (uses photo editing software such as Photo Shop), Night Photography (taken outdoors between dusk and dawn ), Food (photo is of food which could be used for commercial, cookbook, magazine, etc), Dominant Color (has a dominant color for the major element such as red) and Catch All (does not fall into any of the other categories; for example still life.) The same categories will be used in both the single entry or the photo grouping or photo story (3-6 photos). Other photography categories include: people, wildlife animals, domestic animals, marine/aquatic, elements of design, nature/landscape, plant/flora and details & macro. Any questions individuals may have can be answered by call the AgriLife Extension Office at 372-5416 or emailing cl-mcdowell@tamu.edu. The event is sponsored by the Extension Education Council.
