John Earl McPherson, Sr. 79, of Richland Springs, TX passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Brownwood Regional Hospital.

John was born on February 21, 1931 in Williamson County, TX to Samuel Grant McPherson and Ruby Cooper McPherson. John and Rosemary Treadwell were united in marriage on November 12, 1949 in Llano, TX. On December 24, 1997 Rosemary passed away. On December 26, 1998, John and Nona Bryant were united in marriage in Richland Springs, TX. On April 23, 2003 Nona passed away.

John Earl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from that which he retired. John was a member of the First Christian Church of Richland Springs, TX. He diligently worked for the San Saba County Volunteer EMS for fifteen years where he also served as a past president. John was a longtime member of the Masonic "882" Lodge of Richland Springs, TX and "612" Lodge of San Saba, TX, where he served as a Past Master, he was also an Instructor Of The Masonic District "70" For The Worshipful Grand Lodge Of Texas. John was a distinguished member of the Eastern Star "264" Lodge of Richland Springs, TX and "191" Lodge of San Saba, TX. John was a loyal and active Rotarian in the Rotary Club where he served in the past as a flag chairman.

John was survived, by his sons, John Earl McPherson, Jr. and his wife Becky of Richland Springs, TX and David McPherson and his wife Donna of Whitney, TX; his daughter, Deborah McPherson of Richland Springs, TX; his grandchildren, Christy McPherson, Courtney Williams, Derek McPherson, Tyler McPherson, Heather McPherson and Aubrey Carter; his great-grandchildren, Cole McPherson, Collin McPherson, Claire McPherson, Cam’Ron Williams and Camdyn Williams; his brothers, Sam McPherson and his wife Jeannette of Llano, TX and Jack McPherson of Llano, TX; his companion Mabel Ledbetter of San Saba, TX; his sister, Sandra Overstreet and her husband Eddie of Llano, TX and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Grant McPherson and Ruby Cooper McPherson; both wives, Rosemary Treadwell McPherson and Nona Bryant McPherson; one daughter, Carla Jean McPherson; three brothers, Billy Wayne McPherson, Rusty McPherson and Mike McPherson.

Services were held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Howell Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Pennington officiating. Interment will be a private family graveside. Families received friends on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Howell Doran Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. The families ask that all memorials be made to the San Saba County EMS.
