The Cricket in Times Square

by George Selden

The Cricket in Times Square is about a cricket named Chester who got trapped in a picnic basket in Connecticut and ends up in New York. He is found by a boy, who takes care of him, and a mouse and cat who become his friends. They have many exciting adventures and close calls together. To find out what funny things Chester and his friends get into….well, you’ll have to read the book!

George Seldon has several books that tell other stories about Chester and his friends. Some of them are Tucker’s Countryside, Chester Cricket’s New Home, and Chester Cricket’s Pigeon Ride.

Garth Williams drew the pictures for the book and he also drew pictures for Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little. They give you a cricket-size view of the story!
