San Saba Garden Club holds November meeting at club house
Thursday, November 18, 2010 • Posted November 18, 2010

November 2nd, the San Saba Garden Club held their regular meeting in their club house in Mill Pond Park.

Looking around at the inside of the lovely club brings back so many memories of five years ago when I joined.

It is so beautiful now, Anne even put up a window awning over the windows inside in August, they look great.

It is such a pleasure to walk around outside and have our meetings inside now.

Anne opened the meeting at 11:00am with the Club Collect and the Creed.

Marcie Cooper, secretary, read the minutes and correspondence. The treasurer report was given by Gail Bruner.

Under unfinished business, the display at the Courthouse is up and almost complete except for getting some more pumpkins. Ann McElroy said she has many large pumpkins that she would gladly give us. By the way, the display is great.

Trish Fullerton, the Year Book committee, announced that the year books would be ready soon.

The Xmas party will be at Ann McElroy’s home, Dec. 7th. Bring an ornament, $10 or less for the Chinese gift exchange.

Our heater should be in by our next meeting in the club house.

Under new business, the historical commission marker, approximately 18x28, honoring Alma Hamrick, who saved our building is being presented to us. Dorothy Miller, Anna Wilson and Trish Fullerton will decide where to put it and report next meeting.

Marlene Gillman presented our program. Marlene and other garden club members went to England last May to be part of the Garden Tour there. She showed pictures and talked about their beautiful gardens. It was interesting that they have many of the plants that we use. The pictures were great. Marlene did a great job.

Lunch was served, hostesses were Gail Bruner, Imogene Hawkins and Sherrie Clarkson. The two kinds of soups, garlic toast, and many desserts were delicious, the garden club ladies are great cooks!!!
