In Grandma’s Attic

Submitted by Ethan E.

This story is about a grandmother telling her granddaughter about stories of her childhood. The author of this story is Arleta Richardson. She grew up in Chicago and her grandmother told her stories. She wanted to write the stories her grandmother told her. In 1974, her first make of In Grandma’s Attic was published. A good chapter of In Grandma’s Attic is when the grandmother tells her granddaughter about a story of when she was young. The grandmother says to her granddaughter, "I remember when I was walking out to the barn our horse Nelly pushed me to the ground." The grandmother’s brother came up with an answer to why Nellie pushed down his sister. He said to his mother, "Nellie pushed my sister because I used to train Nellie by putting sugar on my coat so Nellie could shake my coat ." "So then my mother got me a new coat, and when I walked by Nellie she didn’t push me down," the grandmother said. This book is very fun to read. Arleta Richardson has sold over two million books of In Grandma’s attic.

P is Pilgrim

is an alphabet book about the Pilgrims and other early facts about North America and the US. This book would be good to read to younger kids and the information on the side would be fun for older kids interested in American History. Check it out, its in the new books at Rylander library.

What if Everybody Did That

teaches you what will happen if everyone littered, did not follow the rules, and lied. It is a funny book with good picture by Coleen M. Madden showing the crazy things that would happen if we all did just as we pleased without thinking about the consequences. It too, is in the new books at the library.
