Richland Springs to play Buckholts in first round
Thursday, November 11, 2010 • Posted November 11, 2010

The Coyotes’ first round playoff opponent will be the Buckholts Badgers in Buckholts on Friday night at 7:30 pm. The decision, as to where the game is played, is normally worked out in a gentlemanly manner with the two head coaches agreeing on a neutral location. This process is normally non-contentious, but not always, Coach Burkhart suggested Lampasas and Coach Swartz suggested a Bryan/College Station site???. Coach Burkhart then suggested a coin flip for a "home and home" scenario. After a couple of tries, the first being stuck completely perpendicular in the grass, the Badgers won the toss. So the teams will play in Buckholts this year and at Richland Springs the next time they meet in future playoff meetings.

This ain’t Coach Burkhart’s first rodeo, his record at Richland Springs is 100-5 and 23-4 in the playoffs in his eight seasons with the team....Oh yeah, State Champs in 04, 06 and 07. The "Second Season" commences. Single elimination tournament...Win or go home. Every game is potentially every Senior’s final football game. All the regular season accomplishments...all the insane stats....rushing, passing, receiving, now no longer matter... Every team in the tournament, starts fresh with no losses. Now its time to see who wants it most." Friday Night Lights" continue on a week to week basis.

The Coyotes are rested, coming off a "bye" week, healthy and rarin’ to go. Coaches Burkhart, Rogers, and Brand will load up their Pack, assemble their convoy of fans and head to Milam County for a little Badger hunting. Go get ‘em Coyotes!!!
