Thursday, November 11, 2010 • Posted November 11, 2010

The Museum will help San Sabans celebrate Veterans Day by featuring exhibits honoring some of our best known hometown heroes. Museum President Lynn Blankenship has announced that the museum will be open on Thursday, November 11, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Docents will be available to provide guided tours or you may wander through at your own pace.

The Museum has a wide variety of World War I and II memorabilia including a Japanese flag that was recovered from a cave in Okinawa. Many of the military exhibits focus on specific heroes including, among others, Matthew Kuykendall, James Howard "Tid" Watkins, Charles McDowell, Fayette Moore, John William Watkins, James Carrigan and Bonnie Page.

While you’re at the Museum, be sure to ask about the plans for the exterior facelift which will begin soon and the new software that will help us quickly locate artifacts of particular interest to you. Museum volunteers are working hard to provide tour experiences for people of all ages which are interesting, relevant and fun!

Visit our web site at www.sansabamuseum.org or e-mail Lynn at jerlyn@centex.net with special requests, suggestions or if you wish to donate or volunteer. The Museum is a 501c3 charity and most donations are tax deductible.
