Elm Grove Echoes

Again, we have not had a drop of rain in the past few weeks. It is really dry around here. There has been a nip of frost on a few mornings and some of the plants were bitten.

Marilyn Suber went for her pre-op work today and it looks like her knee replacement will take place on the 19th as scheduled. Make your appointments before then if you need a hairdo.

The 42 tournament will be this Saturday night at Shiloh. The Busy Bee quilters moved their day to Wednesday this week. The community meeting will be at Elm Grove on the 20th to plan the Christmas party. Please make plans to attend and help keep our community going. Valerie Gossett and JoLynn Tharp will be the hostesses.

The Coyotes will travel all the way to Buckholts to take them on for the first game of the playoff season. It is a long drive and rain is in the forecast. Good luck Coyotes and be careful!

We made a day of it in Brady last Saturday starting with Georgia Tucker’s little dribbler basketball game which her team won 16-10. Then, after a 1 hour wait, we watched Jesse Tucker’s team win also by a score of 8-0. I might mention the fact that Jesse scored the first basket of the game and was as surprised as we were. I think he felt like he had just won the state championship! It is so much fun to watch the little kids play. Then, after lunch, we went to the Tucker’s house for Jesse’s 7th birthday party. About 20 kids ran and played and jumped in the big jumping machine to their hearts content. Jesse had asked for basketball nachos for his party, and he had them, topped off with a Buzz Lightyear birthday cake made and decorated by his Mom. Stacie, Santos and Sophia Elizondo from San Angelo joined us for the party. Sophie is already 5 months old and, in my opinion, getting cuter every day! We had a very full, but enjoyable day.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Kenneth Alston. He was the son of Thomas Lee and Ann Alston of Richland Springs. Services were held for him Monday at the Richland Springs Cemetery. We send our sincere sympathy to the family.
