Nancy C. Sellman Skidmore passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2010. She was 78 years old. Nancy was born to John and Mary Ellen Walker Sellman October 11, 1931. Nancy was a 1949 graduate of San Saba High School where she participated in Tennis, Spanish Club, Pep Squad, Quill and Scroll and Choral Club. She later received a Bachelor degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She and her colleagues at UT designed the very first reading program for Texas first grade students.

In Austin, Nancy met Dickson Malone Skidmore who became her beloved husband of 58 years. After graduation, Nancy and Dickson moved to El Paso where Nancy was a teacher for many years. She was also very involved in her community where she served as president of the Women's National Democratic Club in 1966 and president of A.W.S. in 1962-63.

Nancy will always be remembered for her positive, charming, spunky personality and her love of tennis. She was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother, teacher and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dickson; sons, Samuel Cyle Skidmore of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Howard Malone Skidmore of Austin, Texas.

Many thanks to Dr. Jose Silva, Envision Hospice, VNA, the Pharmacy staff at Albertson's and Luis Camacho for the endlessly kind care and dedication they extended to Nancy.

Memorial Services were held at Trinity First United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

The family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
