Summer is getting an early start this year. All last week was fairly warm, and Sunday was just down right hot. No rain is forecast for this week, but maybe some will be working its way to us before too long.
Belle Marley’s granddaughter Vanessa is at the Marley home recuperating from her gall bladder surgery this last week.
The family of Dennis and Glenda Scroggins are going through some tough times right now. Glenda Scroggins is to undergo tests and her husband Dennis was admitted in the hospital over night with pain in his back. It was first thought a heart attack but other tests will be run to determine his problem.
Barbara Jones went in for tests Monday. Her son Gary and wife Julie Jones of Mesquite came in Sunday night to be with his mother. She will remain overnight in a hospital after the tests.
Jane and Tommie Tinney had a houseful of guests over the weekend. Donnie, Brady and Nicholas Freeland of Grand Prairie, Gary and Jacob Freeland of Canyon Lake were in visiting. They all attended the San Saba baseball game at Brownwood Saturday to root for the team. The San Saba boys played a good game, but Grape Creek came out on top winning two out of three games so they will be the ones going on to State. The San Saba team has nothing to be ashamed of as they really did a fine job and everyone around San Saba is proud of what they did achieve.
Jerome and Shirley Meischen attended the graduation party for their grandson, Blake Gideon of Leander Saturday, May 31st. The party was held at the home of his aunt and uncle, Craig and Sheila Barefoot. In attendance was Brenda, Les Dawson of San Saba; Johnnie Perkins of Gatesville along with her daughter Selena Higginbotham; Gary and Beverly Gatliff of Llano with their sons Kyle and Michelle of Friendswood and Kevin and Kelli of Round Rock; Warren and Carolyn Meischen of Shelby; Oscar Albert, Jr his wife Shannon with daughter Kelly and baby boy. Several of Blake’s aunts, uncles and cousins from East Texas, his friends from Leander and Louise Barefoot of Lampasas also attended. In all there were about 80 people in attendance and a great time was had by all.
The home of William and Jane Clark was a busy place this weekend. Seven friends of Jamie Houdyshell’s from Lampasas were out to the Clark home along with Jamie, Andrew and A.J., Doug, Kristie, Jordan and Jaylee Messer to swim in the pool. Afterward they all enjoyed a wiener roast. Jordan has had another bout of pneumonia, but was well enough to enjoy the swimming and wiener roast.
After the guests left, the family went through all the items that were stored in the Clark home in order to have a big garage sale Saturday, June 7, at the home of Doug and Kristi in Lampasas. Jane reported they would open the garage sale at 8:00 a.m., and from all she reported there will be something for everyone.
After church Sunday lunch was served at the Clark home to everyone including Toni Mayben, Stephen and Denita, J.D. and Lorie Lyn Bynum of Lampasas.
Sunday visitors in the home of Rufus and Tommye Cobern were Jeff, Tanya and Ashely Chalfant of Cedar Park.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Earl Ray Sutton and Jessica Price who will be celebrating a birthday June 6; Kasandra Clark will celebrate a birthday June 7; Quinton Scroggins will celebrate a birthday June 8; and to Gary Grant, who will celebrate a birthday June 10.
