While flying home from our vacation last week we saw some beautiful sights. It was cloudy as we were flying home and some of the clouds below us were beautiful. A couple of times we flew into the clouds. When we did, the sun was blocked out and we could not see the ground below. I guess that would be flying blindly.

Then we went through a cloud and it was as if the sun was there in that cloud. Before it had been hazy and visibility was taken away. Now it became very bright as the light of the sun was shining through the windows on the airplane.

I immediately thought of a couple of scriptures. One was that Moses, after visiting with God had to cover his face with a veil as it was so bright from being with the Lord. (Ex. 43:29-35) But another thought came to mind. In the book of Revelation we read, “And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.” (21:23) This is hard for us to understand as we need the sun for light. If it were not there we would be in darkness. Some parts of our world have a season where the sun does not shine very much each day. When it doesn’t, it is dark. Russia is like this as is Alaska part of the time. But there will be a time that the sun will stop shining and we will be able to see as plain as the noon day sun! Then the light will come from the Lamb that was slain. When the flash of light filled that plane, I thought, “This is what it will be like when we are with Jesus.” The only difference is that it will not be the sun that makes it that bright but the Son!

What a great moment this will be. Many of the things that we have read about in His word will become a reality to us. Many of the things that we do not understand at the present will be made known more readily at that time. I am so pleased that you are taking time in your life to be committed to God so that one day you may live with Him. And if you are reading this and have not made proper preparation, today is the time to do so. Don’t be left in the dark. Obey God today.
