Joe (Manuel) Campos

Joe (Manuel) Campos, 86, of Brownwood, formerly of San Saba, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Brownwood. He was born March 14, 1922, in Post City, Texas, the son of Ygnacio Campos and Porfiria Perez Campos. In 1946, Joe Manuel Campos and Emelia Reyes were married in Brownwood, TX. Joe was a presser for the Dry Cleaners in San Saba for many years. Emelia preceded Joe in death.

He is survived by three sons: Joe Manuel Campos Jr. and his wife, Carmen, of Austin, TX; Roland Campos of Brownwood, TX; and Armando Campos of Brownwood; five daughters: Christine Hernandez and her husband, Johnny, of Austin; Susan Salinas and her husband, Patricio Fernandez, of Brownwood; Virginia Taylor and her husband, Tommy, of Austin; Mary Elba Dunn and her husband, Patrick, of San Antonio; and Natalie Armstrong of Brownwood; 17 grandchildren: Lonnie, Lise and Jason Hernandez; Brandy D’Aprile; Leroy, Priscilla and Derik Salinas; Veronica and Joseph Campos; Troy and Misty Taylor; John McDill; Jessica and Kevin Dunn; Clarissa Campos; and Thomas and J.J. Armstrong; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters: Rachael Bernal and her husband, Lufe, of Killeen; Frances Botello and her husband, T.D.; Mary Mireles and her husband, Richard, of Brady; and Rosie Vasquez of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, one brother, Leroy Campos; and one sister, Lupe Campos Cruz.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Father Gregory McLaughlin officiating. Interment followed at the San Saba City Cemetery.

A Rosary was held Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Association of the Blind.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
