Thomas Glyn McCarley

Thomas Glyn McCarley, 84, left this life for the next on Sunday, May 25, 2008. He was born May 5, 1924 in San Saba County, Texas. In 1944, he married Anna LaJoy DeShane prior to being deployed to the Pacific theater in World War II. He achieved the rank of sergeant (E4). Upon his return, he had a lengthy career at Convair, later General Dynamics, with 34 years of service.He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his extended family in the Hill Country. In retirement, Thomas and his wife enjoyed traveling and squaredancing. When his wife's health declined, Thomas was a devoted caregiver.

He was preceded in death by his wife a few short months ago.

Survivors include: son, Gary, of Burleson; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Tenley of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Meri of Burleson; grandchildren: Jill, Joy, Tanya, Tori, Jordan and Aaron; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters: Naoma Smithhart and Earline Pool.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29th at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. James Stone presiding. Interment followed at Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

The family requests that memorials to be made to Community Hospice of Texas or the American Lung Association.
